“Immersive Experience”

Raising a question about what is the “immersive`` meaning in our current digital era

“Immersive experience” is a video piece, which raises a question about what is the “immersive” meaning in our current digital era.

I created a fictional virtual reality product – Moculus Loft. Moculus Loft has similar interface as other virtual reality products, which has goggle shaped black headset. Once the user places the Moculus on their head, their new “immersive experience” will be started.
According to its shape, its user expects to see a digital immersive experience like other virtual reality products do. However unlike other products, the Moculus experience provides analogue old fashioned red/cyan 3D glasses – to look at two red and blue covered performers once its front filter has been removed by an instructor’s hands.
Moculus will stimulate five senses – sight, hearing, even touch, taste and smell. And you will be invited to dance with the performers in the end.

VR related immersive experiences have suddenly become buzz topics. A majority of people feel VR immersive experiences are big future trend. My argument on this piece is, “is the digital immersive virtual reality experience the only way to provide an immersive experience?“ It is not an ironical presentation for VR products, but I would like to extend the term “immersive experience” into more explorative and imaginative, such as considering to provide analogue and human experiences.
