Hair Raising Machine

Your hair makes a personal statement about you – it’s part of your physical being and we can wear it as we want. So most people want to show off their hair to their best advantage and there are a lot of consumer hair care products to maintain it in a good state. However I would like to challenge this, and to break the usual hair styling cycle. If we could immediately change our hair style to something extreme, how would we feel?

The hair raising machine lifts up hair using small but strong concentrated jets to create extreme, upside down hair styles. People may perceive you differently after the machine experience, and you may receive heightened awareness of hair’s power in representing us individually within society.

髪の毛は自分自身を飾り、社会に向けて表現ができる体の一部。
そのためにほとんどの人々は髪の毛を一番良い状態にキープしようとします。そのためにたくさんのヘアケア製品は髪の毛を良い状態に保つように作られています。
しかし、このプロジェクトでは、本来大体の人々がなりたいと思う髪型と全く別の方向、普通ではない髪型に瞬間的になったら人々がどう反応するか、その反応を見る為のプロジェクトです。この髪の毛逆立てマシーンは本来重力で下に下がった髪型を圧縮された空気で逆に逆立てます。
このマシーンを使った人々が、自分自身の中での髪の毛の存在の強さを新たに発見するかもしれません。
